First year progress

This week I’ve been checking in on some gardens that I installed last year. This one was planted last August and it’s filling in pretty good, although I’m going to suggest a half flat of Carex brevior to stabilize this steep slope during spring rains (shh, sedges and cool-season grasses are the secrets to garden success!). The homeowner installed this fence to prevent herbivory while the plants are getting established. Currently in bloom: Nodding Wild Onion, Rough Blazingstar and Wild Quinine. Two other sections of this yard were tackled last month so this yard is going to be kicking in ecological value very soon. From chemically-drenched lawn dead zone to thriving habitat. Dis is what it’s all about!
